What happens during a smile makeover?
Have you ever wanted to have your teeth straightened and whitened, or have gaps filled whilst also concealing a crack on a front tooth from that rugby match five years ago? If so, you may be a suitable candidate for the dental makeover which is a bit of a mix and match of cosmetic procedures, with the aim of giving you the best-looking finish to your smile.
Our team at Dr Bobby Chhoker performs many cosmetic treatments each day and is always happy to discuss our smile makeover service with our patients. So, if you have ever wondered if this could be the answer to your dental aesthetics, simply contact us to book a consultation.
In this article, we discuss the most common cosmetic procedures that go into a smile makeover, so read on to learn more.
Porcelain laminates
Porcelain laminates, also known as dental veneers, are a great way to enhance your smile and have become a very common feature of a smile makeover. They are fitted using a gentle abrasion of the teeth that they are to be attached to and cement. Once in place, they can last up to 20 years. They are also a great way to whiten your teeth if you have oral sensitivity as they do not require gels or bleaches.
Whitening
Many dental patients wish that their teeth were whiter, so dental whitening has certainly not slowed down in popularity in recent years. Our team will aim to use a hydrogen peroxide-based gel, which will have anti-sensitivity agents built into it. This will prevent any extensive dehydration of the tooth, which can cause the temporary sensitivity that is associated with dental whitening. Using this method, we can whiten your teeth up to 16 shades.
Dental implants
If you have missing teeth, then you may want to consider having oral implants fitted. Oral implants begin with a consultation, which allows our team to assess if your jawbone is healthy enough. If it is, then we will fit the implants using surgical methods and over the next 3 to 9 months, they will fuse with your jaw. Once in place, we will fit the prosthetic teeth into them, allowing them to be a more secure version of a denture or bridge. The prosthetic teeth that we attach can be colour matched to blend in with your natural teeth. Or, if you are having an entire set of dentures fitted using oral implants, then you can pretty much go for whichever look you want.
White fillings
If you had fillings fitted in the 1990s or even earlier, then you may remember that the end result looked black or grey and was not in the least bit discreet. However, when you have a dental makeover, our team can remove amalgam fillings and even crowns with a bit of preparation and replace them with enamel-matched composite options. This will give you a more natural-looking finish while also acting as a better defence against decay. Also, composite fillings will not crack the teeth in the same way that amalgam options do, as they do not react to hot stimuli hitting them such as tea and coffee
