FAQs about getting a smile make over answered
Are you looking for a way to refresh your smile?
As cosmetic dentistry has advanced and has made its way into everyday dental surgeries, more people are now approaching their dentists about having a procedure (or rather a set of procedures) that is known as a dental makeover. And, yes, it is probably exactly what you think it is, except without the lipstick or hairspray!
At Dr Bobby Chhoker, we have helped many patients to rejuvenate their smiles using a smile makeover. We will always work with you to discuss how you want the final result to look and which procedures would be the most suitable for you based on this and your dental history.
Here, we take a look at some of the most common FAQs that our team receives about having a smile makeover. Enjoy!
What is a dental makeover and who can have one?
In simple terms, a smile makeover involves improving the physical appearance of someone’s smile by using a mixture of restorative, orthodontic and cosmetic dental procedures.
Generally speaking, most people are suitable to have a full or partial dental makeover. Provided that you have good oral health and will maintain your teeth after the procedure, our team will be happy to discuss this as a treatment option for you.
What procedures usually go into a dental makeover?
There are a few, and our team will cater for the ones we use based on how you want the result of your dental makeover to look.
At our clinic, the procedures that a standard makeover involves are veneers, clear aligners, braces, whitening and dental implants. We can also offer crowns and bridges.
How long do they take on average?
This will depend on what is being performed as part of the makeover.
If you are undertaking an invisible aligner like Invisalign, then you can expect that to take between 3-6 months on average. If you have another treatment on top of it (like dental whitening), this can take up to an extra 2 weeks.
Do they last longer than single cosmetic treatments?
Generally speaking, there is limited research into this area; so, we can only assume that when you have a dental makeover, you should expect it to last as long as each of the treatments that went into it.
So, if you have had dental veneers on some teeth and oral implants inserted during the same makeover, the veneers may last up to 15 years, as will the implants. Therefore, the makeover will last about 15 years in total.

Are they expensive?
Many people worry that having a dental makeover might be extortionately expensive.
However, our team is happy to discuss this with you and may be able to offer financing options subject to suitability. This will help spread the cost of your treatments into affordable monthly instalments – meaning all you have to worry about is where to show off your new, great-looking smile!
