FAQs answered by our cosmetic dentist
Do you have some questions about cosmetic dentistry?
When you come to Dr Bobby Chhoker, our cosmetic dentist can answer any questions that you have about cosmetic procedures and will be able to help you achieve the stunning smile that you deserve. Great!
Here our cosmetic dentist answers common questions that we receive about the cosmetic dental procedures in Bondi that we offer.
Will veneers damage my teeth?
As one of the most popular treatments offered by our team, we are often asked if veneers cause long-term damage to the teeth that they are attached to and the short answer is no.
When we fit the veneers, we will gently sand a small part of the teeth that they will be attached to and then, using dental cement, we will attach the veneers. This procedure is painless and causes no long-term problems to the teeth overall.
If you experience issues such as sensitivity if your veneers have fallen off or just after having them fitted, please talk to our team.
Can I realign my front teeth but leave my back ones alone?
Yes, you can but depending on the severity of the misalignment of the back teeth, it may be damaging to leave them out of line.
We can offer our adult patients all manner of orthodontic treatments to correct misalignments of the front teeth, including clear braces and aligners such as Invisalign. But should you have a misalignment that is impacting the molars, we may need to fit a standard or orthodontic brace.
How long does whitening last?
Another popular treatment that we offer is dental whitening.
And, like most dental practices, we can offer in-chair whitening which uses products like bleach or we can provide you with a home whitening kit, which will use lower concentrations of peroxide.
Depending on lifestyle choices, dental whitening can last from anywhere between 4 months to 3 years; if you smoke, this will cause yellowing to occur and if you drink red wine, your teeth may turn brown.

Can all dentists offer cosmetic dental treatments?
In short, no.
All additional cosmetic dental procedures, from implants to whitening, require additional training and when you are looking for a team to perform them, you should always ask to see a portfolio of previously completed work and certificates of qualification.
All of our team at Dr Bobby Chhoker are trained to perform specific treatments, so when you come to us, we will be able to offer you whatever service you desire.
Who is suitable for dental implants?
If you are over the age of 18, have good dental health and have no contraindicated health issues (such as osteoporosis), then you will probably be suitable for dental implants.
To check suitability, we offer a consultation to all patients who are interested in dental implants and will perform an X-ray to ensure that you have the required amount of jawbone to proceed with an implant fitting.
